Elder Board
"We can do all
things through Christ who strengthens us."
(Philippians 4:13.)

Mission:
The mission of the board of elders is to assist in providing spiritual
guidance, nurturing and support for the membership, friends and visitors
of the First Church of Seventh-day Adventists and the surrounding
community.
Goals:
Support
of Pastoral Staff: Realizing that our calling is to be co-leaders with
the Pastoral
staff the elders are committed to preach, teach, advice, encourage and
assist
the pastoral staff administratively.
Evangelism:
Following the command of Jesus Christ, the elders are committed to
make
disciples of all who are willing to listen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
as it is
outlined
in the scriptures.
Nurturing:
The elders are committed to contact, encourage and assist the
membership
and visitors of our church as well as community members. Contact is
by
telephone, letter, or visitation. Elders console and assist those who
lose loved
ones
and those who are shut in because of illness, old age or other
disabilities.
Special Activities of the Elders which demonstrate their
commitment:
Give
communion and care packages to the sick and shut in. (All Elders)
Speak
at the Early Morning Prayer Service each Sabbath morning.
The
Prayer Chapel: Directed by Elder Curla Walters on alternate weeks.
The
Prayer Praise and Service Ministry (Directed by Elder Curla
Walters.)
All
elders assist in funeral arrangements for families who lose loved ones.
Participate
in the feeding of the homeless.
Serve
as support for the different ministries of the church.
