Robin P. Walker, Chaplain

The Church Chaplain’s Position

This position has a dual function, pastoral and chaplaincy. The dual-track is a development of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries.

The track is an internship that routes into chaplaincy with parish experience prior to receiving ecclesiastical endorsement for a full-time chaplain’s position. The position is designed to be a member of the Pastorate. The tenure is for an unspecified period of time and is reviewed annually by the Pastor in conjunction with the approval of the Church board.

The position duties include the following: to design and plan the implementation and coordination of the church’s mission and objectives in and through a variety of team ministries and small groups; to oversee the recommendations from the strategic planning team; and as the Church’s chief’s spiritual nurturer, to design and plan opportunities for members/community to nurture one another, beyond the traditional church programs.

Robin P. Walker is an ordained elder. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management with a minor in Religion from Columbia Union College, and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. She has been accepted in the 2007/2008 Georgetown University Hospital’s Clinical Pastoral Education Residency I. Program, as a Resident Chaplain. Chaplain Walker has twenty plus years of Federal Service with the Department of Navy and is a recipient of Federal awards for excellence in workplace equality and family issues. Chaplain Walker and her husband Lawrence have three adult children, which she considers her greatest gifts from God.
